The internationally coveted Quality Management Certification based on ISO 9000 series of standards gives recognition to individual suppliers in the global market. Establishment of a certified QMS has been an inescapable necessity, which draws a road map to continual improvement.
For a business unit to successfully set up an ISO 9001 Quality System or get maximum benefits from an established Quality System, auditors within the organisation have to be trained to assess the system against ISO 9001 requirements. They must also be able to assess their Suppliers Quality System to support own Quality Initiative.
One of the most important aspects of TQM is Improvement in all areas of established Quality Systems. Internal Quality Audit, besides pointing out good things also aims at bringing out deficiencies in any Quality system, and thus enable organisation to understand to what level quality objectives have been achieved, and if not what corrective measures have to be taken. The emphasis of the revised standards has been shifted from conventional record keeping activities to Identification of Risk and Opportunities and Factual Approach to decision making through Measurement, Analysis & Improvement, and internal audit forms a vital function in the never-ending process of Continual Improvement.
ISO 9001:2015 provide guidelines to adopt a Process Approach for implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the QMS. The System Approach to Management provides a strong Customer Focus, aimed at quantifying the customer satisfaction with a Committed Top Management and People Involvement. The practical approach towards business would result in higher productivity and profits once implemented and maintained.
The Technical Committee (TC) behind ISO 9000 is TC 176.
